Looking for exhaust and intake options for my new 2010 F150..

Picked up a new truck the other day (first full-size truck, I love it!)..

It's a 2010 F150 Platinum (see pic below).

Looking for options on exhaust and wondering if it's worthwhile to replace the air intake or if something as simple as a drop-in K&N will work.

As far as exhaust goes, I'm looking for something that provides a nice visual balance with the size of the truck. The stock tailpipe is visually unappealing as the size of it doesn't bode well with the size of the truck.

I'd like to get something that flows better -- but I do not want it to be all that much louder than stock. In-fact, I'm looking for more fashion over form on this deal, so even something to just make the back of the truck look more aesthetically pleasing would be good. What options do I have? I'm not looking for dual exhaust, I'd like to keep everything on one side.

As far as intake goes, I'd like to get something that's not going to give the throaty sound when under WOT. Similar to the sound that you get when you remove your air silencer -- that is what I do NOT want. Is a drop-in replacement filter my only option or has someone out there developed something that will improve flow after the filter without adding any throatiness on the intake side of things under WOT?

Thanks for the info.. Looking forward to the responses

Ok here's what I would do. Look into The Borla Pro XS mufflers and do 4"x18" SS rolled edge tips 45'd behind your rear tires.

This muffler would sound nice and mellow but perform well

Thanks for the info. Are there any companies (Magnaflow, etc) that sell a cat-back kit for the 09-10? I checked some websites, but they appear to be either outdated, or what I"m looking for is unavailable

Thanks again..

They make kits, but I think it all depends on what you want for the exit style. To get the 45'd, you're going to have to go to a shop and have it done. Plus it allows you to get the muffler and tips YOU want. You want the best performing muffler and a nice mellow tone, Borla's your best bet. I personally have a maggie 14" muffler and love it, but the Borla's outperform them flow wise. How do you want the system to exit. Do you want a si/so like stock or a si/do like me?

I clicked on one of the sponsor links, and found this:

That may be what I'm looking for... Wonder how it sounds?

Looks like an 18" body muffler to me. A nice deep mellow tone, nothing crazy, but you will def know its there under acceleration.

Beautiful. Bummer you only want to keep it on one side, but I see your point. An actual cat-back is your only choice here for precision fit, and low note. Go with a Magnaflow kit for affordability, good low sound, and very nice double outlet tip. Do not bother with the intake, anything you alter will only make more noise inside and out. The paper filter is all you need for fine protection, if you are seeking more go, then a AEM hi-flow filter can do well.

It sounds incredibly awesome. Exactly like this.

All Magnaflow cat-backs come with the 18" length Magnaflow mufflers.

For a little more volume, this is an 18" Borla Pro XS with dual tailpipes.

If you decide to go with Magnaflow try www.hottexhaust.com . I just ordered a cat back part #16518. Its a SI/SO and I only paid $391.00 including shipping. Click on the coupon button and type veedub to get it for that price.
