what's a "stock" gear??? ford made more than one you know???

hopefully you don't have a 3 valve motor and will be regearing your truck soon

if not, your tranny or motor, if not both will be gone real soon

Regardless its obvious stock gears, and 37s is a painful combination, 4.88s are in your future I assume?

Putting it nicely. Your 5.4 is a 2v. 2004+ 5.4 is 3v

I hope you've got enough for the transmission you're about to finish...

look on your drivers door jamb, post the axle code and we'll do the rest (as far as figuring out what gears you have)

honestly gears need to go on the truck before you purchase more tires

i dont get all you and your have to re gear or oh my god youll pull out of your driveway and blow up your trans. quit scarin people, you dont know how he drives, what he does with his truck. im sorry but it pisses me off, i flog my trucks beyond belive, some have been regeard and some havent, i had 38.5 on 3.55s and never had a problem. i also had a bronco with 35s and 4.30s and toasted 3rd gear. people everyday get away with drivn stock gears on 49 iroks. it depends plain and simple on drivein habits.

Ok guys I think I hear Blue getting out the ban hammer. Its not the end of world running stock gears with big tires but its not really a very good idea to do it very long because it adds so much more stress to a drive line that was never intended to handle the kinds of stress loads you are throwing at it. I would strongly recomend that you get the gears changed quickly to avoid breaking or damaging something that will only cost you more money fix. But in the end its up to you whether you want to do it or just replace axles, U-Joints, and drive line parts constantly.

x2... well put Dave. WHen you think about it, the optimal set-ups come from the factory. Once you start changing tire sizes, you add weight and diameters that were not intended for the way the truck was set-up. I have 17" stockers on stock size tires right now. When I get my 20's and 305-50-20s I will probably see a slight difference in power due to the little bit more weight added. Factor in someone with a massive tire combo and aftermarket wheels and a lift, that's a lot of strain. Not knocking you bud, but just be friendly

i was not trying to say its not a good idea to re-gear. but so many people on here and many other site act like its the end of the world if you do not re-gear.
