1990 F150 Dumped Exhaust

So I just spent an hour looking for threads about a 90 f150 with dumped exhaust and found nothing. So I'm staring one myself. Right now I had a Flowmaster 40 series SIDO with huge 12" tips straight out the back. It is a great sound but the hangers keep breaking right near the tips. 4 times in the last 2 months. So I have been thinking of dumping it either after the rear axle or right behind the bumper. Any opinions and/or personal experience would be greatly appreciated.

Why not just order some stainless hangers and have to the shop weld them on for ya?

Dumped will sound like crap. Either cut off ( no turn down or pipe behind the muffler ), or with tips. Cut off will be much louder, but will sound awesome with Flowmaster 40!

i had pretty much the same setup and my hangers lasted 3 years and i even got rearended and they're fine. i reused them when i redid the system. are you using the j hook style hangers? the exhaust needs to have some kind of movement or the hangers/welds will break. thats why alot of shops use j hooks and rubber hangers like the factory.
this is the style hanger i used for my tailpipes- http://www.summitracing.com/parts/WLK-35103/ i bolted mine to the frame and clamped them to the pipes.

Yea there is alot of bouncing from the road that I drive one everyday for school. I have J hangers and the last time it happened my guy reinforced it, and it still broke, so... Avfrog, By cut off do you mean just a couple inches after the muffles its self? Would it sounds good one my truck?

No pipe after the muffler what so ever! Just cut off the tail pipes at the muffler ears. Yes it will sound awesome, but she will be loud! You will like it...

Ok thanks. I'm going to the shop tomorrow, so I'll see what he has to say also.
