I sure wished mine had Borla put on it by the PO. He put FM catback SI/DO kit with twin 2 1/4 tail pipes and 3" SS slash tips with rolled ends. Looks great, was way loud though.

I added a 2 foot long red glasspack in front of the FM and it softened it noticeably, painted it to hide the red.

That Borla would have been my preferred choice.

I'ld keep the cats stock until something happened to them.

Listen to Darren and Frog. I put my round maggie on and you could hear it, but not loud at all. The other day I put the magnaflow hi-flow cats on and hello whole new game. I'd go the hi-flow route.

If I have the catalytic converter removed will it sound better? What would be the benefit of doing this and what would be the downside?
I just got in my hi-flow cats and are about to install them should have them on by the weekend. I just posted a video of my current exhaust and I will be putting up a new video of the exhaust after the hi-flows should give you a good example of what the change will be like.

Here is also a great price on magnaflow hi-flows - I got 2 for about $98 shipped to my door.

They don't do much at all as far as power and MPG, but for exhaust volume, I promise, they make quite the difference!

Exactly. Ford catalytic converters kill a lot of noise, they are very resonating. GM is the only automaker who has a near hi-flow cat type of converter stock.
