Question Headers w/o cats

I was thinking about doing long tube headers and removing all my cats. This is just a mudder truck, really no street driving so emissions arent a problem.

I have my manifolds off all ready, just cant decide.

What would i have to do make it so my truck wouldnt throw any CEL?

Oh and would there even be enough back pressure with out the cats?

On the other hand i might get oem manifolds again, but still remove all cats.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

i would just do the long tubes and enjoy it every time you romp it!

as far as the cel, get a programmer to turn them off or do the 02 gotts mod.

good luck man...

OP- Do a search for the term "back pressure" on this thread and read what we have to say about it. Other than that. Do the Gotts mod on the secondaries and enjoy! As for long tubes... If it is worth the time and the money for them, buy them. More power, even more after tuned, and a lot more noise.

Change of plans.... I am now thinking that i will remove all 4 cats, true duals (2.5") with a x pipe and two si/so super 44's.

This is going on my 2001 5.4l

Correct me if i am wrong.

1st- get the guys at the muffler shop to bend pipe to replace the cat section

2nd- i will need to weld o2 bungs in place for the 4 censers

3rd- do the gotts mod on the rear two, and just put original o2 censers in first two by the manifolds.

4th- add x pipe

5th- add new mufflers

Is there any thing else? With this set up, i wont loss any power right? and with the "gotts o2 mod" i wont have the the CEL come on? I wont need a tune or anything either?

Thanks

Super 44 and no cats will be too raspy IMO. If you like the sound of flows, then go with Org. 40... period.
