I left my mind-reading apparatus in my other truck, so please forgive me if I ask fer yer vehicle specifics - model year, engine, etc.
Second - recheck yer work. Please note that this is considered to a crap intake to begin with, with poor instructions, but go over everything. Pay special attention to the MAF, IAT, connections. Crucial, these are. Yes indeed.
Another tact: completely de-install to stock. Does truck now start? If so, advise you to stay that way, sell intake, buy good beer, see a movie, move on.
Is the CEL light on? Please get codes read & post.
Any /all additional info you can provide will help us to help you.
If it's an 04+ 5.4 3V, be prepared for some bad news....
We are waiting patiently, sir....

Its a 2007 5.4....i took it to the ford dealership and they told me it was the sensor in my key...i put my other key in it and it fired right up...told me that spectre cai shouldnt give me any trouble with the truck...i know i have heard some ppl say otherwise so i guess i will have to wait and see if anything else goes wrong...

As stated - you have now altered the MAF vicinity. No canned tuner I know of has corrected calibrations for Spectre's yet. If/when Diablo ( Mike, can you help?) gets a chance to flow-bench one of these, we'll know if correction is required.
My guess it will be. You simply cannot tell by eyeballing these things! So the ford dealer if full o' poopoo. Sorry.
Another way to check - call VMP, Troyer or PHP and see if they have written custom tuning with these intakes in mind.
Do NOT assume. Do NOT wait for something to happen. Not for this. Too important. Be proactive here.
Good luck

Go back to the stock intake and see if the problem persist. If not, then your intake is the problem. Report it to Spectre and see if they will resend you a replacement kit. If thats not the case, clean your MAF and re-try. If your key really is the issue, try getting it under warranty if you haven't past 36k miles, that is an expensive key to replace.

Unless i am reading it wrong you said the key was to blame. That had nothing to do with the intake! You should be able to run the spectra intake with no problems at all. one thing i would do is what Darren mentioned is to clean the MAF sensor just to be safe and have fun with the intake

Not even close - day & night situation from yer truck. I do not think you have a lock on what is involved here. Sorry.
Sphincter CAI's are bottom-barrrel quality, have little to no R&D invested.($39 aluminum intake with instructions written in Chenglish, rememeber?
A dryer vent intake classic. I would doubt that their QA achieves consistency in it's effect on MAF TF's.
Should be interesting what the tuners say
