Which Muffler Should I get ?

so I want my truck to have a larger voice but I don't want to spend a whole whack of money on full exhaust so I'm thinking of just buying a different muffler. I was under the truck a few minutes ago and it doesn't seem like a huge job. I don't want something that kills my ears every time I drive, I just want it to be louder when I let 'er go.

I have a 2006 f150 xlt w/ the 5.6
Which muffler would you guys suggest to get ?
Which offsets and size do I need ?

Thanks in advance for any helpful advice

Magnapack with hi-flow cats. Give in to peer pressure.

I would go with cats but money is kind of an option.

If all you want is noise then get the biggest diameter, shortest length glasspack you can.

To me yes it would. Everyone has thier own definition of loud tho. So it is just a personal choice.

How did you put a Nissan engine in that thing?

For what you described, you simply want to delete the muffler and pit a pipe in its place. For a muffler, go with a $40 Dynomax Bullet. Please dont put a glasspack on a Modular V8.

wow I really should pay attention to what I type, it's a 5.4 but I assume everybody knew what I was talking about

Edit:
I'm thinking of the 3.5x7x14 magnaflow muffler.
now I assume I'd have to piece together some more exhaust pipe to make up the difference for the gas tank of a stock muffler that's in there rite now.
What size of an inlet/outlet do I need and how do I do the measurements for that ?

2.5" is the OEM size. You will need an offset bend to mate up to the tailpipe. Holding a tape measurer straight up beside it will due.

i did a muffler delete with a 18" piece of pipe and a center in/offset out magnaflow 4x9x14" muffler. didnt really hear it till WFO, would be a little louder on your 06. next time, ill just have a shop weld it up. sounds like what you lookin for with 2 cats instead of 4(i think 06's only have 2 cats)....or you could try the 14" borla pro xs........a little help for avfrog

this is EXACTLY what I"m thinking of doing... now I see that the stock muffler has an offset/offset but with the way things look I think I can go with a center/offset (front/back) there's a bent piece of exhaust pipe that make it an offset so I think I"m just going to get a single piece and go straight back... Does that make any sense ?

And yes, I think I only have 2x cats.

I just went with a Magnaflow part# 12198 SIDO and had it dumped right in front of the differential. Sounds GREAT! Nice deep tone, no drone, and louder than that stock 100 pound restrictor that was on there! lol I can't wait to get my long tubes and high-flow cats!
