Why do the Dodges Sound so good?

May sound like a stupid question but i am always seeing these 04 and up dodge rams with dual exhaust and to me they sound so good? Nice deep rumble at idle and deep when driving. I could probaly spend 600 bucks and my truck still wouldnt sound as good as the dodges. Ive asked several guys about there setup and its usually either a SI/DO flowmaster or a magnaflow and nothing else special.

Just 1 cat? The hemi sounds really good but that 4.7 sounds almost the same as the hemi.

Just the design of the engine. Every engine sounds different, and the single cat helps too.

Their stock exhaust are pretty good. The mufflers are actually pretty small compared to Ford's and Cheb's.

Depends

Engine design decides sound quality and loudness from the factory. The louder motors from the factory will sound louder and deeper with comparable aftermarket systems than the motors that are quieter from factory.

Alot of exhaust makers have graphs on their sites showing what decibel levels will be achieved on motors from various makes using their systems. It's generally Dodge as loudest, Chevy second loudest, Ford 3rd and that's because that's how they generally rank in loudness right out of the box.

I had a 4.7 Dakota before. It was actually a very easy motor to get sounding good with an exhaust sytem. Seemed like you could have put just about anything on there and yes, it wounded pretty similar to a Hemi with exhausts.

Also the cam and head design on them is well done. Another reason those trucks can really move. But the loud exhaust is the only good part about a Dodge truck..

Fords are the calmest no doubt, 5th loudest ( last place ) to Dodge, GM, Toyota, and Nissan.

It's b/c a Dodge is like a fat-ugly secretary that gives good phone when you call haha! I've owned Doges before and never again. The sound is as good as it gets, once you get past that they are POS!!

Dodge does have a knack for good-sounding exhausts...even their four-banger SRT4 sounded sick. Definitely my favorite 4cyl. sound. But yeah, it's still a neon
