05 Screw Borla or Magnaflow?

Hey,

So I'm undecided on which cat back exhaust system to buy. Being my first upgrade to my truck, I decided go with exhaust first. At first was really liked the soundclips of the JBA catback, but being I have read so many discussions on both Magnaflow and Borla I have decided to go with one of these two.

I like the sound of both systems offered. I'm not looking for the loudest thing on the block (although I dont mind that for my 67 Mustang). I'm looking for a nice deep tone with some power gain, and no snap crackle pop at high RPMs. It seems to me the Borla is a little deeper sound then the magnaflow, which I like. But I have a question on the Borla that some of you can shed some light on. Why does the Borla system have 3 inlet in and only 2.25 out (according to summitracing.com, and if I am reading it correctly) for the dual exit and magnaflow use 2.5 for the dual exit?

Taking a guess here on this, is it because exhaust gases slowly cool as they pass through the exhaust and in order to keep the flow or velocity up they make the tube size 2.25 in? (maybe a stupid question)

I feel I'll be happy with either system but I would like some opinions and some tips or suggestions for installation that might not be in the instructions. I have read both of the install instructions off both websites and they pretty much seem straight forward and almost identical. Thanks for any info you all can give.

The Borla system 140137.

And the Magnaflow system 16520.

Borla will not crackle at high RPM. Magnaflow's changes tone at high RPM. If you want the same deep growl all the up, then you want Borla.

Borla will sound great. Nice, deep, and clear. They do 2.25" for clearance, and better velocity for pressure, basically what you explained.

Southern: that exhaust will not suite him well at all.

Stang: Unless your 100% set on the Borla KIT, i would buy the muffler and tip from summit racing and have a shop fab it up. The Magnaflow is the one with the 3" inlet 2.5" outlet which will technically give you a TAD more power out of it vs the 2.5/2.25". I would go with the Borla just because Borla sounds better than Magnaflow, and everyone has magnaflow. But unless you want every extra power gain possible, the magnaflow kit will do that due to the 3" inlet 2.5" outlet. 2.25" will have better low end tq and visa versa with the 2.5 2.25. The gains are so minimal, so keep that in mind. Pick your poison.

Power gain and flowmaster isn't something I've heard much about. But on a side note, am I the only one who wants to see pics of this 67 mustang? Not to be totally off topic at all.
