And another reason is with the aluminized steel, at one time not long ago that is all that was offered. It lasted 2 - 3yrs tops until natural corrosion started and salt deteriorated it, so their high dollar exhaust job needed redone.

I myself think its the "Small ***** Syndrome" for some guys.....they need to apply their opinions because they are bigger than their *****.

I guess the magnaflow is like the "Old Man Viagra" once you hit that age something has to try and get it up.

I really like this site and the opinions and suggestions are great. Everyone has their oppinions and differences.

thanks for the support and bashing guys.....its all good fun

I've also owned vehicles with both, and I can tell you that although I liked the sound, my Flowmaster equipped vehicles did not see any gains in performance.....

All show...no go unfortunately! But for some, sound is all they're after I suppose

Since when has some actually noticed a good gain from just swapping on mufflers? Never.....

If you do all the plumbing under there with some LT's, 3 inch back and all that jazz then yes I would say you would get a slight noticable increase in HP. But with just mufflers....no

Not going to argue with you, just stating fact. I however, noticed improvements immediately with a proper magnaflow set-up.

Fordahaulic quoted "Not going to argue with you, just stating fact. I however, noticed improvements immediately with a proper magnaflow set-up". OK are you talking about just magna flow mufflers or are you talking about from the headers back? Drick said just mufflers and you replied with this. I call bs, you are not going to see any performance, seat of the pants feel from just mufflers, I don't care who makes them, But if your talking about an entire exhaust, then you can make a flowmaster comparable to a magnaflow system. Again your not going to notice 2 or 3 hp. So if you say magnas create 20 or 30 more hp then ok. But you cant. So to each his own.

I won't go as far as stating 'fact', but I'll go on record and say (again, as I've posted this before) that in my own case, I've noticed a difference in just replacing mufflers....

Way back when I first got my truck (2001) I got a Gibson 3" cat back exhaust system. It was still quiet, but still better then stock.. That was until it started to 'rattle' about a year later... It being a baffled muffler, one of the welds inside broke, so it rattled.. I took it to a local muffler shop and the guy suggested a "FLO-PRO"... He also sold "Flowmasters", but when I told him what the sound I was looking for and that I still wanted some low end torque, he suggested the 'Pro'... He simply replaced the muffler and I kept the Gibson 3" mandrel bent tail pipe.

It's about 12" shorter then the Gibson 'garbage can' muffer, so he had to add some pipe and it's basically a straight thru design on the muffler. (my muffler has a center inlet)

It had the sound I wanted and I could tell a difference right away in the low end. When I pulled my travel trailer for the first time after getting the 'pro' the truck didn't downshift as much and it could hold 3rd gear on the same hills that would downshift into second with the Gibson.... Driving around I could tell a difference too, because it didn't downshift as much going up hills and would even hold OD on the same hills that caused it to downshift and just seemed to have better throttle response off the line and the sound was a much better 'rumble' that I like. Even the wife said it was not a 'bad' sound... From the outside, it sounds really good (to me) when the truck is going away from you and at idle, it's just a nice mello rumble..

I've still got the same muffler after 7 years or so... The entire system ain't pretty by any means from the outside, but it's not rotted or has any holes in it either....

Who said anything about a simple muffler swap? I said " A Proper set up" Didn't I....? And if you think you can make your flowmaster put out as much as a magnaflow with both set ups being identical, then you sir are a good man... Until then I call huge BS!!

All I said was I noticed a difference with one, not the other. If that hurts your feelings, I believe there are other forums on the web that can deal with insecurity issues.

I love my super 44s. glad the O.P. likes his set up. i got mine for the sound, since i dont race, i give a damn about the "performance". Though my butt dyno may need calibration, i havent noticed any loss of power or torque.
