Pacesetter Headers

I got my new longtubes in today for my 05 f150 and am debating whether to put them on yet. I ordered PHP custom tunes for my edge CTS but they wont be done until 8 weeks. I call PHP and asked if i could go ahead and put the headers on without the tune on it yet and he said everything should be fine as long as a return the truck to its stock settings (remove edge tune). He said i might get a few error codes but nothing should harm the truck from it. Obviously i wouldnt see the gains from the headers until i get the new tune but i just dont want to mess the truck up. I just wanted to get some other peoples opinions about this. I do not want to mess up my engine just for being impatient. The reason why i wanted to get the headers on is because i am headed to college in a few weeks and it would be difficult for me to install them being away from home and my shop. tell me what you think. Thanks

you might run the truck lean, without the tune

so I'd wait until you had the tune ready to go before the install

You can put them on but no mashing the pedal.
Drive conservatively until you get you tunes.

I know it would be hard for me not to mash on the gas after set of long tubes were installed on my truck.

Well when I installed my OBX headers on my wideband I noticed it running leaner for a short while. Then the computer fixed it and its no biggie. However being stock tunes on the 04-05's was lean I'm not sure if the computer can compensate for it.

I decided i am going to take it strait to the tune shop after i get them installed instead of waiting on the PHP tunes for 2 months. Thats another thing, how hard is the installation on a 05 4 wheel drive with a 6 inch suspension lift?? I have access to a shop and lift and my cousin that has installed headers a few times is going to help me. I am just wondering how hard it is and how much time it will take. I am expecting around 4-6 hours?? Also i have heard to reuse the stock gaskets if they look like they are in good shape instead of the ones that come with the pacesetter kit?? Please let me know if there are any other things i should know that will help with the install and to help prevent future problems. Thanks!

^ You need get a "good" set of gaskets. There is nothing that will make you more mad, then a few months that install you have to tear all apart again to replace the gaskets.

i ordered some felpro steel gaskets and the guy at the auto parts store also said everyone normally reuses the stock ones if they look like they are in good shape and dont have any problems. If you know of a better brand or material please let me know. I really dont want to do this twice haha
