AWESOME POST!!! I've been trying to figure out a way to hook my truck up with duals and thanks to you, I have an answer! By the way, women enjoy the deep roar of an exhaust... Well at least I do. I tend to have a lead foot in my truck and my dad's just so I can listen to the exhaust.

Now my only debate on modifying my truck is lift kit vs leveling for a 2WD. I need room for bigger tires :-) Any ideas?

Need some input from members that have experience. I just regurgitate what others have told me.

on the dual exhaust, what is the purpose of connecting the two pipes (X or H pipe). y not have 2 completely separate pipes?

the x or h helps out the other bank if one flows less efficiently. the driver side bank has to make a more severe turn so the passenger side kinda helps out. scavenging effect.

to my understanding

The equalization of the pipes is part of why crossovers are good for performance. The scavenging effect is where one side of the engine is sending out exhaust gasses through the pipe, the other creates a negative pressure which helps pull the gasses instead of the engine having to force it all through on it's own. Both crossovers help the scavenging effect, but the X-pipe does it best.

Sweet thread Punisher! Very informative! I for one really appreciate it. I was about to pull the trigger on a new setup with a Flowmaster Super 44. Looks like Im going with a "flow-through" now instead - Magnaflow 14"

Damn!! That is some good info... your post is the reason i Joined the Forum, i am going to get Magnaflow 15460 for my 2012 F150, cost an arm and a leg.

15460 requires Spare Tire Removal; but it is DUAL SPLIT REAR EXIT
vs.
15461 is also a dual tip but on the same side

Also, has anyone heard of Magnaflowdepot.com? they have 25% off on all Magnaflow Exhausts at their website, its kind of a weird how the website works, you have to bid the discount, i tried all different numbers, but i think it is set at 25% off.

Anyone purchased from them?? are they Legit??

why would you remove the spare tire for an exhaust? if its for install purposes i dont see why not, otherwise i'd rather have ABC muffler & Co do the bending and welding given you provide him your choice of parts man

I was hoping that maybe you could include a section on what can be done that would and wouldn't void the factory warrenty. I am getting a new '12 F150 FX4 and after picking it up from the dealership, I want to go straight to my exhust guy and get it fixed up but hopefully keep it within warrenty while giving it the best sound.
And some other questions:
-I was looking at getting a dual set of electric cutoff to put before the mufflers and have them dump to the ground so I could get that even loader sound. Any thoughts on that subject? Quality, sound??
-What bout dual in/dual out mufflers? is it better to go 2 SI/SO or one DI/DO?
-Also what would be your ideal set up to get the best and loudest sound for the F150?

Thanks for the information! This is some of the best reading I have seen on these fourms I have seen in a while!

Ive got a question that has not yet been asked. What about true duals with a dual in/ dual out muffler that has a crossover WITHIN the muffler instead of a standalone H/X pipe? Ive been running this setup for years now. Ive got a custom setup that uses a Magnaflow Crossflow DI/DO muffler.

http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/s...e=main&id=9377

Will I gain anything by putting in a conventional crossover before the muffler?

One of the best write-ups on this site, in my opinion!
