What is it with these kids these days?

idk if i am. im wondering if by cutting the muffler off it would cause cat damage.
It can deafen them.
also i was wondering if there is anything louder then no muffler and cats
Yeah, go stand at the end of the runway of any major airport.

That's a pic of a system were the downstream cats were eliminated. I ran that for awhile, it sounded bad ***, but I did loose some low end.

I later changed that up to what I'm running now w/headers -

You don't owe me an apology .... though maybe I owe you one for picking at your post? It just struck me funny like that. Louder is not "more agressive", it's just louder. I've had my Chevelle SS with 454 and Tri-Power and my GTO and my Swinger and trucks and T-birds and most of every one of them had nice sounding exhaust ..... with mufflers.

Yes, running straight exhaust behind the cats with no restriction will usually lead to the cats not getting as hot, not working at peak efficiency, and I suspect, fouling. Perhaps you are hearing cats that are clogging up slowly, or not hearing as well because you're losing some hearing?

Who knows?

I do know that as I read these posts, not just yours, but many many others ...
... posted by those who run straight pipes ...
... and I wonder how do they stand it? I mean the the noise and the tickets?

Besides, you have to know you just pi55 people off when you come through parking lots and down town, even those who refuse to look your way are muttering.

Hey, not a negative post, just talking out loud. I was a kid once, I learned some things, and some I still have to learn. Do as you see fit.

i run straights on one of my trucks, and it isnt some insane loud cracckle and pop exhaust sound. has a nice sound at ide, and as your cruising. but when u jump on it, it screams but not in a nasty sounding tone. but to each his own

the only way to get louder is to remove cats.

tbear, these trucks with 4 cats are not the same as those 80's models trucks with straight pipes. they actually sound good. its still tame and has a deep exhaust tone at idle and while accelerating.
