Highway drone is driving me nuts...HELP!

Alright, so enough is enough!
I have had my truck since new in April of '07 and decided to put an exhaust on later in the year. After doing a great deal of research, I realized that my options were limited by having a supercrew w/ a 6.5 ft bed.
Ultimately, I would have loved to have gotten another Corsa exhaust(loved it on my heavily modded Vette), but this was a gift and I had to be reasonable. So, my wife got me a Bankd Monster SI/SO exhaust. I have gotten to the point that I just can't stand thenoise on the highway, and that's where I spend most of my time behind the wheel.
I contacted Banks for suggestions, but they only use one muffler.
I know the dimensions of the muffler are 24" in overall length with 3" inlet/outlet.
I don't want to just scrap the whole system if I don't have to.
Any suggestions?

I would either put a Dynomax Bullet in front of it as a resonator or have a SI/SO 5x11x22" Magnaflow installed in place of the Banks muffler. I have used both of the above methods in the past and they have been very effective in eliminating drone.

Is that the closest size muffler that Magnaflow makes?

Anyone used/using Magnaflows chambered muffler? They have a direct replacement which would be ideal, but only if it solves the problem.

So you went to this:

and now you have "drone intollerance issues"?

Small wonder.

In front of that 3" pipe is a 2 1/2" OD long pipe going up to the factory Y.

CORRECT?

You have several options.

Add a second muffling device ahead of the Banks system in place of that long piece of 2.5" pipe, either a real muffler or a glasspack ...
... or go back stock ...
... or do a new system.

I have a single pipe that connects to the factory Y, but close enough. I am leaning towards the chambered Magnaflow because of the ease of installation and the fact that if it does not work, I haven't cut/welded anything. Feedback would help before I pull the trigger.
I have thought about the resonator idea also.

I knew it would be louder, just not intolerable.

I went ahead and ordered a Magnaflow 3 chamber with the exact dimensions of the Monster. It was cheap enough and should be a simple swap, so we'll see how it goes. Tech support at magnaflow was awesome. The guy I spoke to was extremely helpful and knew his s#*t when it came to exhaust.

^ That will sound like stock, and perform like stock. What was the point?

Magnaflow chambered mufflers are louder than the straight through mufflers. The 5x11x22" muffler will quiten it down.

The Magnaflow 24" straight through muffler will drone as much as the Banks. Been there, done that...

Interesting. Maybe the guy at Magnaflow was not so knowledgeable. He suggested the same 5x11x22 as the ultimate solution, but also said that the chambered mufflers were designed specifically to reduce drone.
I don't mind a loud exhaust at idle and under acceleration, but the 1800-2100 rpm drone is what is killing me. It just so happens that is EXACTLY where the engine revs at the speed I drive almost the whole way to and from work. I figured for $54 and very little time, I would give it a shot.
Guess I'll find out soon enough.
Thanks for the honest feedback, sounds like you've been exactly where I am.
Did you have the Banks?

I have the magnaflow and no drone... Very easy to install and not too loud.
