Loud 4.2l

Alright as of now. I have stock headers, stock cats, then x-pipe, and no muffs with 4"x24" tips.
Its loud now. But I'f like it to be louder, and have a deeper tone also. Being louder is more important than deep, because I know its hard to get a loud and deep tone out of a 4.2l. But I DO NOT want the ricer sound. If i do ill just drive mas car. But if i can get both then thats good too.

I'd perfer for headers to be my last option. I was thinking high flow cats with no mufflers. and the x-pipe.
Or jus put some SLP loudmouth II muffs on. ive heard a few 4.6l with them. but never a 4.2l.

I'vethought of a couple set ups.
1. true duals with out the x-pipe with stock cats.
2. high flow cats, x-pipe, and no muffs
3. no cats, x-pipe, with SLP loudmouth II muffs

I do want to keep the x-pipe though. I like the way it balances the sound to both sides, and keeps that 4.2l popping out a lil.

I can only imagine how bad it must sound, and you want it louder. Cut the cats and add long tube headers if you want it even louder.

there's only so much of a "deep" tone to a v6 then you're asking too much from it. If it's already loud and you want it louder, but don't want the ricer tone...get a v8

replace the 4 stock cats with 2 high flows, run a decent muffler, get rid of the x pipe. The 4.2 is an even firing motor so that x is doing absolutely nothing for it.
