I forgot to mention that he told me he didn't really care for hi flows and actually stated he thought I might see a slight change in sound but not much. And no increase in HP, which is not why I am doing this in the first place..but what are the pros / cons?

Pretty sure you have the right to your old parts back if you ask for them. If he still refuses to give them back then tell him to discount what he is charging you the amount he will get for selling your old cats. When I sold mine I got $200.

Do they sniff test? Replacing the rears with hiflows won't change much at all, if any. Either delete the rears or replace all 4 with 2 hiflows and be done with it.

I don't know of any shops around here that will install something you didn't buy from them. And as far as him keeping your old cats, I frequent two local salvage yards. One only pays out $8 per cat, not knowing the quantity of the material inside and the other will only buy cats from a shop because too many people were cutting them off peoples cars and scrapping them. It was a big news story here in Orlando about a year ago.

Here around me I can can get $75-$100 per cat. $240 is about right.. You figure it would be about $30-$40 in materials, and 2-3 hours of labor.. Sounds cheap to me actually. When i had my exhaust done it cost me around $550 from my long tubes back to tips..
