removed stock air cleaner box snorkel

When removing the 2010 5.4 air cleaner box snorkel it brought the 5.4 to life, through out the rpm range.

Did the same thing to the 2011 5.0 and seems like lost some low end power but above 3k rpm it seems to help. Has anyone done a dyno check on 5.0 with the snorkel removed?

I don't see why you would loose low end torque by removing the snorkel.

Maybe because the snorkel is at least 3-3 1/2" at the opening which would make sense, looked to be the same size as the tail pipe. Was hoping someone has checked this on the dyno for the 2011 5.0

Restricting the air on that side of the throttle body should not lower the torque curve. The intake manifold will most definitely make a difference, but not on the other side.

Did you remove any of the resonators?

If you removed any/all the Helmholtz resonators (the small blow molded dead end bottles that are in the fresh air side of the snorkel) you can expect to loose a small amount of low end torque at certain RPM's (frequencies). The Helmholtz resonators are tuned not only to reduce noise, but balance out some unwanted pulses in the induction system that slow the flow of air at slower speed.

On the 2010 5.4 before removing the snorkel I was told told it picked up 17hp at the rear wheels (dyno proved) and after I did that it wasn't even worth getting a custom tuned programer for the 2010, had the custom tuned programer on a 2008 F150 5.4 with ram-air hood with cia to match the hood, 50 series Flowmaster and the thing would smoke a 2011 F150 5.0. I was checking to see if anyone has done the snorkel removel on the 5.0 with a dyno verified check.
