My buddy got glass packs put in and they are definitely the best sound I've ever heard on ANY truck...I want to get them put in, but have no idea how to explain it to the installer. Has anybody done this? What size pipes? is it cat-back...or do I have to deal with the Y-pipe? Someone fill me in...

I went with the true duals on my 2001. Cut the pipes just before the Y, put in an X pipe to gain low and midrange torque, put in dual Magnaflow mufflers. They are a packed type (stainless steel case and packing, guaranteed against rust and blow out for life) then out dual tips. The Magnaflows are a higher quality than your average steel cased glass packs. I think they are worth the money. They sure sound great.

Also, I have a Lariat, but love the way the tips look on the HD...did you reuse the tips? Or are those aftermarket? If so where'd you get them? Sweet truck!!!

I used the stock tails and tips, I like the looks too. It was all made of mandrel bent 304 stainless. Quite a custom built affair. Cost me $500. Well worth it in my opinion. It was made such that if I wanted I still could actually put the stock system back in. That complicated things a little.
