Straight pipe or flow master American thunder?

Okay so I have a 92 f-150 5.0 302 and stock exhaust system. I am thinking about removing the cat and/or muffler and straight piping it. I want a loud but also a low rumbling sound.
Anyone got some ideas?

No straight pipe, unless you are going for that garbage sound.

Both are ghey alternatives - but at least the Fartmaster makes an attempt at sounding good, hence being slightly less ghey.

Idears ... Well, Jethro's thinkin' mebbie a Magnaflow 14" oval body or a 14" Magnapack. And leave the dang cat in place...

The flowmaster system, or flowmaster mufflers and custom pipes from a shop. They sound good on the older engines like ours. If your area isn't strict about loudness, and you don't have e-check, ditch the cats, install headers and then again flowmaster mufflers and custom pipes from a shop.

If they were so bad, the cars with some of the biggest, most built up engines wouldn't be using them. Are you guys driving pre 97 trucks like me and the OP? Flowmasters sound better on them IMO. I'm also not worried about a loss of maybe 2hp (which isn't what matters in trucks) using flowmaster over any straight through muffler.

You'll have to prove that. And don't show me a race car with just Flowmaster stickers on it. I want to see one that actually uses they're sponsors part.

Depends HOW MUCH power your using. It's not just a straight 2 HP. Pulling a load you'll loose a hell of allot more. Doesn't matter what your driving, - if it combusts your restricting flow. The more fuel, the more flow. -The more flow, the more that muffler restricts and the harder the engine has to work to clear the pipes. So, you lose more when more is what's needed.

2hp

I'd replace your precat and cat with a new highflow and run a Dynomax bullet, Magnapack or Borla XR-1.

It'll sound like what you're looking for.
