Magnaflow 14" case vs 18" case?

Hi Guys,
I have researched this topic over and over. I have had a drone-master on my 09' 4.6l Screw for the past 3 years and can't take it anymore, especially after hearing all the trucks running dual magnapacks.

I am close to pulling the trigger (pending wife's approval) on an x-pipe (10791) with dual magnapacks but would love if someone could explain the difference in sound betweeen these two mufflers:

10416:
In/Out = 2.5"
Case = 14"
Diameter = 4"

10426:
In/Out = 2.5"
Case = 18"
Diameter = 4"

I am looking for something that is loud but not obnoxious and has a pissed off sound. Any recommendations for my truck? Thanks to all the exhaust gurus in advance!

From what I've read here a pair of 14's would probably be too loud. I've never heard one in person. I recently made a similar choice on a SI/DO and am going with the 18".

As far as spousal approval goes... just do it. Surely that truck can't be running properly with a flowmaster!

That's kinda where I was going with that....kinda.

If you need permission, just tell her your muffler's broke....because if it's a Fartmaster....it is!

Married since September 2011... fartmaster broken since I put it on!

It is not approval but rather not having to hear chirping in my ear after I spend money on something she believes is pointless.

I know that there are also 6" diameter magnapacks as well but wasn't sure which one provides the deep rumble I am looking for. I am leaning towards the 18" because I am afraid the 14" will be too loud like Nu said.

I just want to get rid of the flowmaster... it is to the point that I hate starting my truck because it is so disappointing.

I bought a rifle once, with $$ that I squirreled away. She called it embezzling the family's money. A muffler is much easier to justify. I will have my SI/DO 18" Magnaflow on in a week or so.

^^^ That sounds badass! How much of a factor are all your other ad-ons in the tone and volume of sound?

Also, would there be a huge difference between a 5.4 and a 4.6?

Thanks for the video... that is what I am shooting for.

In this case, all the mods he has done play a role in the exhaust note. Cams, CAI, et al, play a big role in the overall sound. If you're shooting for that, just an exhaust won't get ya there.

Put on your big-boy pants, and buy whatever exhaust ya want! It's a reasonable expense, you work for your money, and if it won't hurt you financially, tell that woman you're buying what you want!

I'm sure she buys things just because she wants them. That's a two-way street.

Sincerely,

DewserB, Divorce Attorney

Listen to the man he's a divorce attorney! Lol

But yes the cams, high flow cats, and other things made it sound like that oh and I raised my rev limiter in neutral/park!

Get what you want and don't look back money comes and goes!

I am speechless... these replies are pure comedy.

I am going to take a little bit advise from y'all and start squirelling away money. Then I am going to show her Dewser's video and withold the remedy to her wet panties until she agrees to let me buy the exhaust I want! Sound good?

Thanks again guys... I still haven't decided on 14" or 18" though.
