2012 F150 5.0 Exhaust question, maggie 12219
I want to wake the sound up on my new truck. My 05 had high flow cats and a DI/DO maggie 18" with the X piped out the back. It was more or less loud enough. Now I have a 12 5.0 and I was thinking about taking the resonator out and using a 14" maggie 5x8 12219 (less aggressive than the 4x9 11219 magnaflow told me) and just dumping it over the axel with the stock after muffler pipe. Anyone have that setup or have heard something like it? Can I go 3" from the collectors back if I take the resonator out of the lineup? I guess a exhaust shop can connect to the factory flange and make it 3”. It starts smaller and steps up to a 3” out the factory muffler correct?
Thanks!
Thanks!

keep in mind here, that your 2012 cats will be louder than the cats on your last truck, and DO NOT dump it. Turn downs kill the sound, and exiting with larger tips exceeds the sound quality.
One more thing, get rid of that 3" idea. A dual 3" system will reduce your bottom end torque considerably.

I just scored a great deal at the local exhaust shop. he had a slightly used "XLerator" muffler on the shelf.(2.5" in/out though) Flow-through design just like the Magnaflow, 18" long case. http://www.acommunicationdevice.com/...e/product.html
I tried to get a good video, but to be honest it is hard to tell a difference on the video. Didn't do the sound justice at all! In person it sounds AMAZING, slightly louder than stock, lighter and better flow! No drone and just the right amount of tone!
My Truck is the Chrome pkg, so it had a 3.5" Chrome tip on it.....I cut the tailpipe back a bit and re-installed the tip. Sprayed the pipe with high heat flat black paint... Looks Great!

I wasn't going to do a dual 3"...single 3"...the roush is a full 3". My 05 was a dual 2.5". I agree dual 3 would be too much unless your pushing a lot of psi from some sort of FI.
