Exhaust Disassembly question

Hey All,

So I removed my Corsa DB kit #24310 a while back and it has been on my garage floor (in 1 piece!). I would like to break it down into it's seperate pieces so I can store it and/or use the muffler for a possible exhaust project.

Therein lies the issue. I can't seperate the pipe from the muffler. I removed the clamps but the pipe will simply not budge. I tried hitting it, yanking on it (lol), twisting it, everything.....it will not seprate...

Any ideas on how I can get the pipes off the moffler? I don't want to cut it since it is a bolt on kit (obviously). Is there any type of solvent or solution I can put on there to ease the seperation?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks for your time!

Maybe soak it in WD40 over night, then have another go at it.

Haha, actually....the Magnapack is back on as of yesterday. LOL

The XR-1 sounded awesome, and did actually get louder (to the point where when I installed the Magnapack again I actually thought it was a little quiet. lol). I just missed the Magnapack thumpthumpthump tone.

The XR-1 was wierd in that it has a good solid tone, but it just didn't have that "pizazz" the Magnapack has, IMO. The XR-1 is a great muffler and I would recommend it to anybody, but it was just too quiet for me at the higher rpm ranges. It went from drone at 60-65 mph (or thereabouts) to being really quiet above that. The Magnapack lacks the drone but is punchy at higher rpms (which I like). I also liked the fact that the magnapack will definitely "break in" with time. The XR-1 most definitely seemed to liven up with time and get more volume, but I think that stoppeed around 1000 or so miles.

My next project may be this Corsa DB muffler SI/DO if I can get the damn thing apart. LOL

There are exhaust pipe separator tools for just this purpose. You might be able to rent one locally, or could take it to an exhaust shop if you don't want to buy the tool.

Thanks for the help!

lay the heat to it, even a little propane torch to burn up the rust that has formed
