Wanting more performance and better sound

Hey guys, like the title says. I need some more low end and something that sounds better than what I have now...
One of the previous owners cut out the muffler and did a dump under the truck that's it.
I was thinkin true duals, side exit, high flow cats. I've been reading up that it will put up the check engine light if I don't have all 4 cats though? Somethin about an O2 sensor... I want to get rid of all that restrictive crap though! What do I do to not get any trouble codes?

Screw duals if your wanting MAX low rpm torque. Run a single 2.5" with a straight threw style muffler.

Am I going to notice loss of top end performance and would it matter where it exited?

No. Exit doesn't matter either, just different sounds.

On a dyno you will see fewer HP on top, but your driving a truck made for towing, not racing.

"av" actually stands for "avenger".

Ok. I'm still trying my best to figure out a way for true dual with dual side exits... I'm pondering putting a fuel cell in the bed when I get the money and what not but I doubt I will.

Skeery!!

Always wondered what that meant. 'Avenger frog' sounds like something I'd dream up after eating pizza before bedtime. J/K, bud.

So now I'm thinkin I should just save up and buy long tube headers at the same time. How can I be emissions legal too though and where should I buy all the stuff?

LT headers to 2 high flow cats to x-pipe then muffler/s (DIDO or 2 SISO) of your choice and your choice of tailpipes. Easy $1000 when installed and done right. At least you're in AZ where the rust isn't crazy!

Well he wants max low end torque, I would go either 2.5" single exhaust, or 2.25" mandrel bent true dual X piped.
