Thumbs down Let me tell you about straight pipes....

..that the sound you get from running a "Y" pipe and duals out of the back SUCKS...

...just did it on a whim, took off my Midas Performance Muffler (don't laugh, until you've listened to one) and had a "Y" pipe installed with the same duals running out of the back.

The exhaust definitely lost it's low rumble at idle, and it's overall general tone as well.

Guess that I'll have to find another muffler to get the exhaust resonance back.

I don't give "two craps" with others on this forum that will soon disagree with my opinion on this. Straight pipes on a 5.4L suck, and if you're looking for a better sound, get a catback.

That is all.....

I like the way my exhaust sounds (no muffs). To each his own...

i'm with silent1 on this one. i listened to several set-ups before running straights. i ran straights years ago and didn't want them again. however, after hearing them i liked them. good sound without being too loud. for me, at least.

wjt,
i've heard the midas you're speaking of, and true, it does have a good sound. i liked the straights better and saved the cost of a muffler. the 4.6 sounds sweet with no muffler. rich.
