Thumbs up Gibson Dual Sport Self-Installed for $15.00

Did a self-install of the Gibson Dual Sport cat-back and it took
me 2hrs 45 min. I think it can be done in an hour if you really
know what you are doing and have a helper. I took a couple
of breaks and had some guys in the shop get curious and
come over and start talking to me so that is why I think it took longer.

I did not get paper instructions with my kit!! I dont know if they
accidently forget them or not?

The way I began, (and it helps alot), was to set it up first on
the ground and see how everything went together.

I utilized a lift at the auto craft shop on the Army post here
in Sierra Vista. (IMO without it, it would be a lot more difficult)

The hardest part was getting the old system off. You have to be
careful not to damage the hanger bushings as they are used with
the new system.

I used a mini grinder to cut the pipe just a few inches ahead of
the garbage can sized stock muffler. Had to use a hack saw for the
very top due to the lack of clearance between the pipe and
the body.
Once the old pipes were off, the Gibson system pretty much just bolted right up.
I took some extra time lining up everthing and making it level.

I could have used an extra hand (if you got a buddy, have him help),
but I managed okay by myself.

All in all it was a pretty simple affair. I am not a big time motorhead either.
I have only basic knowledge of tools and
my only advantage would be that I used to work as a welder's
helper and can handle a grinder safely. (don't forget eye protection)!!

The sound is pretty nice and mellow. This is definitely NOT a loud
performance muffler. It is certainly louder than the stock system
and the truck really looks nice with the two stainless steel slash
tips exiting right behind the passenger rear tire.

I am very happy with the Gibson Dual Sport and the ease of installation.
I was quoted $ 191.00 for the kit install at Midas Monkey House and
another local shop offered to put it on for $100.00.
I put it on myself and only paid $15.00 for the use of the lift.

Goodness! I saved myself some dinero for another mod!
oh the possiblities.....
