Just got my straight pipes... WOW!
I just got my straight pipes installed yesterday at a local muffler shop and they sound badass! I previously had the Gibson supertruck exhaust on my 99 4.6l and it was loud, but most of my friends run straight pipes and I wanted to get up there with them. I had the shop cut off the SI/DO muffler and put Y there. The tips still exit before the rear tire and now it looks and sounds badass! I would recommend straights to anyone who loves a loud truck.

You don't pass the visual examination for an inspection sticker in Texas without a properly installed and operating muffler. Any questions, look here section 20.15 www.txdps.state.tx.us/vi/insp.asp

TRUE Straightpipes!
I once had a 1979 F150 with a heavily modified 351. After the headers came a dual exhaust consisting of 2 3" pipes that ran all the way down the truck and out the back. No cats, no mufflers - just straight pipes. And believe me, you could hear me from a mile away. Spun the tires in every gear without trying. So I know the excitement you gotta be having over this. Congrats and good luck!

He won't legally. He will have to find a dishonest or stupid inspector. A much better solution is to buy an oversized straight-through design muffler and slip the desired straight pipe right throught it; it appears to pass inpection, and is a straight pipe inside.
