Flowmaster blues

Had my flowmaster 40 on for 40,000 miles. I was not too pleased. It sounded good at idle, but had an obnoxious tone when you get on it. Just took the flow off today and had a magnaflow put on. What a world of difference. Quieter than the flowmaster, but louder than stock. No more of that annoying sound when you get on the gas. I think it sounds much better now.

What type of Magnaflow muffler did you use? I heard they are stainless steel. Are they?

Flowmaster blues

My flowmaster was a SI/DO, so I already had the dual pipes. The Magnaflow they put on at the shop is a model 11215 aluminized, SI/SO. Then installed a y-pipe off the back of the muffler. You can get either stainless steel or aluminized, depending on the model.

After driving a bit today, I can tell a difference in performance over the flowmaster. I think I gained some of that low end back.

Wolverine: too bad about that exhaust sound.

Hey, don't bother with a 10" sub unless you want to upgrade again a couple months down the road. That's what happened to me. Sounded great but no volume with a 10". You need MORE cubic inches my friend. Get a single 12". I have an Audiobahn Alum-12 and I'm happy with it running around 400wrms from an older Rodek 2150i amp.

Best part ideal sealed box size is only 1 cu.ft.

Thanks for the advice p_ferlow. That's what I was worried about. Lack of volume. So I'll problably go with 2 MTX 5000's in a sealed box, powered by an MTX Thunder4250D mono amp for $450. Does that sound like a good deal?

Talking FM & Stereo...

I had a FM 40 SI/Do on my 99' 4.2L 5 speed with 3" x 24" tips...it sounded good, and actually DID in fact sound very much like a V8. Everyone in the neighborhood thought I had the V8, until I brought it up. Seriously...if you haven't already...try some long 3.5" tips first.

As far as stereos go...a single 12" DD sub will make the wipers leave the windshield...(seriously) check the link in my sig.
