F-250 Exhaust

I have a 2001 F-250 with a 5.4 v-8 under the hood.

Has any one out there put a cat back on one yet?

I heard a 5.4 with a Iron tuff cat back exhaust from a local muffler shop and I have to say it sounded like crap.

It did not have much v8 tone to it, in fact you mostly heard air rushing out of the tail pipes.

I want to leave the exhaust stock until it's legal to out a high floe converter on it but I can't wait, I'm thinking of a glass pack has any one tried one on a 250 and if so do you get that same rushing air sound.

I'm trying to get a Gibson Stainless steel Sweptside cat-back exhaust for my '01 F250 4x4 5.4 with 5spd. I researched this for about a month and was actually going to get the Flowmaster Force II cat-back after hearing this Force II on 5.4 SD When I asked the guy at the performance shop, who has been around longer than dirt, about comparing the 2, he said "If you want sound, get Flowmaster. If you want performance, get Gibson". Unfortunately, his price was $525 and I can get one, with 3 day shipping, for under $500. I've already put in the FIPK and the chip, next will be the Gibson. BTW, if you don't have a Superchip, GET ONE . My truck has come alive with it. Check out the forum on it.
Also, if you want to hear a Gibson on a 5.4, go to thr produvt review .
Let me know about the high flow cat if you do it. Sounds interesting

If you're talking Superduty F250's then I wouldn't mess with the cat. It's huge! I removed mine and installed a "test" pipe and noticed no gains. Got real loud however! You can hold it up to a light and see right though it. I don't think you can beat it.

btw... the list price on a stock 5.4L cat is over $1200!!! ($1600 for CA )

Unhappy

It's offical after Tuseday I don't think I'm goin to mess with the exhaust on my truck.

I heard a 250 with no muffler and it sounds like a cross between a V-6 and a 4 banger.

Welp, I ordered the Gibson cat-back today. Should be in next week and on the truck next weekend. I'll make a full thread when it's on.
BTW, BITEMERACING_01, what did you think of those sound wavs? I thought they sounded pretty good.

I could not play the flow master wav. I kept getting an error.

I've heard the gibson wav before. But you have to remember that that wav was on a 1/2 ton truck and the exhaust is set up different.

Let me know how the gibson sounds on your truck.
