Thumbs up Went from 3" to 2 1/2" single.

Use to have Flowmaster "Y Pipe" to 3" mufflerless turn-down. Well, I had the shop swap out the 3" for 2 1/2" lastnight, but they didn't flare it out as I had hoped. Unstead they put a fat weld around it to seal the gap. Anyway, I think I picked up more low, and shifted a lot back into my mid range. It's a lot stronger from 2,500 to 3,500 with a sharp drop at 4,000, where before I had nothing until 4,000 and up. It's funny, my ol' lady and I were on our way to get a new living room set lastnight and I floored it from a roll at 10 mph and laid rubber out onto our main street and about 10 ft. up it. I just grinned and she said, "THAT was nice." God I love her.

...the ol' lady too.

I'm considering putting a 3.5" x 8" Gibson stainless tip on the end of the turn-down tonight. Any ideas? I wonder if it will change the sound any. Thanks!!!

Exclamation Installed tip...

Went back lastnight and had a Gibson stainless 3 1/2" x 10" tip installed...MY GOD!!! The truck is louder than ever now....didn't think possible with these trucks. Tips definately make a BIG difference. If I had to guess, I'd say it's 50% louder now, and 30% deeper tone. Now I get the looks that everyone talks about. Got two that I noticed anyway on the way to work this morning.

Hi Jackal, are you saying that you changed the Y-pipe to 2 1/2 or just the pipe that replaces the muffler?

Thanx.

Talking

Just the pipe, left the "Y" alone. Most shops can flare the end of 2 1/2" to 3".

You know that if you would have left the 3in pipe on the truck and add a flowmaster the truck would perform better.

The newer fords need to have back pressure or it will really trip up the coumputer.

Don't get me wrong I love the tone on the new fords.
I really like the true duals (2-1/2 pipe) stock cats and no mufflers but the truck did not run right with that set up.
