More torque?

More torque?
OK. As you guy's know from reading my other post about exhaust tips, I have a si/do flowmaster 40 dual exhaust exiting under the rear bumper. And the tips I now have are chrome 9" tips spot welded on the 2-1/4" pipes. I've got a plan! When I go to have these tips cut off I'm gonna go to a parts store and buy two 2-1/4" exhaust extensions that has a 2-1/4" ID(inlet diameter), and a 2" OD(outlet diameter). That way I can use tips with a 2" inlet diameter. The tips I want to use are the Meg's 5" angle cut Oval, stainless steel with a 2" inlet and a 5" X 2-1/8" oval outlet, and are 11.4" long. Trust me, this will look good. Don't picture it as ricey because these tips are shaped like the tips on a late model camaro but they have more of an oval configuration to them. My question is... By putting these extensions on that reduce the pipe size from 2.25" to 2.0", give me a little more low-end torque? I know that the v6 needs backpressure to make the torque down low. So by doing this, should it help any? If at all? TIA.

im not really sure but my guess would be that it wont increase backpressure enough to make a difference. it really depends just how much of your exhaust will be 2.25" and how much will be 2", but i dont think you will notice any change in performance. only 1 way to truly find out, though...

Well if it does nothing for me, it'll look good and last a long time. JA4X4, it really won't cost that much. The extensions are only $1.50 a piece. And the stainless Meg's sound tips are only $28.95 a piece. Total=about $60. Donate54, It problably won't change the performance any, but the sound may change... I'll get back to ya when I do this mod.
