"Y" pipe

f-150-91 Hi welcome to the site....If you have any doubts about the "Y" pipe take a look under any V-8 Mustang GT... the reason behind the "Y" pipe.Is to equalize all cyl.press.and provide som e back press.at low speeds.all that changes when you lite up the tires. My wife has proven that to me. what a rocket..BY the way she buys her own gas...hope this helps you out...OLDGRAY

In this case though the "y-pipe" is put on an inline-6 motor using the y-pipe to output to twin tailpipes. Shouldn't think it would sound much different than a single out rear tailpipe. No performance difference, only added weight of running another pipe.
