Question How do i make my 150 sound like a mustang?

I am a family man, i love the sounds of a loud dual exhaust, however the constant sound of it in my truck would get annoying. So, here is my question, i dig the sounds of the mustangs (4.6L), they sould cool idling and even better driving, not too loud, not too quiet. So, how do i make my truck sound like that? Same engine right? How do i do it? Is it possible? Thanks for the help!--medic

I think its the H-pipe exhaust setup. Correct me if I'm wrong. I always love the sound of the early 90's 5.0 and would love to recreate that sound with my truck.

well its hard copying the exact sound of a mustang. remember, the exhaust setup of an engine isnt the only thing that affects the way the exahust sounds. intake type, compression ratio, displacement, and even firing order all change the way exhasut sounds.

For a mustang, a deep, loud, but tolerable exhaust would be an H or X pipe with cats and some sort of muffler. Flowmasters are very popular, as are borla and pacesetter. Dynomax are cheap, but also popular. My roommate has a 94 stang with off road (no cats) H-pipe and flowmaster two chambers. It makes a whole lot of noise. Sounds absolutely awesome. But, its loud as hell, and on the highway it just drones on. Doesn't shut up. Definetely not the way to go with a family. So I'd use cats, from there, the muffler type is all depending on what you like. A flowmaster 3 chamber would probably be good for you.

I have a 98 V6 Mustang. I converted the factory Y-pipe into an H with a kit from pacesetter. Then I bought a GT catback from Mac. The sound is deeper than my friends 98 V6 with flowmasters, and is also a little rougher, almost like it has a mild cam compared to the car with flows. A lot of people ask if I have a 5.0 or 4.6, and are shocked when I respond 3.8 V6.

When I get my F-150 (within the month) I plan on going to a good exhaust shop with a pair of borla mufflers and asking them to rig up some sort of rear exit dual exhaust. If its possible to get an H-pipe, I'll probably do that too, depending on how much money is left after buying the truck.

For an F-150, I have no clue where to get this stuff. I'd be intersted to know though. If you wanted it for a Mustang I could tell you a million places. I'm new to F-150s though. Don't even own one yet, but am shopping and should have one within a month.
