Lighted running boards staying on???

Occasionally the lights on the running boards and other interior "courtesy " lights stay on after the last door is closed and they will not turn off. I check all the doors by opening and closing them again, so that's not the problem. I lock the doors manually and with the factory remote but it still doesn't work. The only way to get them to go out is to start the truck, put it in drive and then park and cut off the ignition again. Any ideas? Again, this does not happen everytime I shut the truck off. It will go days and sometimes weeks until it happens. Thanks.

Sounds like the problem that occurs on the F150. The switch that indicates door open/closed is located in the latch mechanisim of the door. It gets clogged with crud and sticks indicating a "false open". Shoot WD-40 or Carb/Choke cleaner liberally into the latches of all doors, then open and slam them half a dozen times.

Haven't heard of it not fixing the problem yet. Did mine about 6-8 months ago and the problem never came back.
