Ok, I have a 97 E/B Expedition. I used to drive the truck less than 40 miles a week, now I have a job that is 45 miles 1 way. Is there anything I can do to improve my gas milage? The oil gets changed every 3000 miles and I just had a tune-up that was probably unneccesary due to the miles(46187). I use the truck to pull my show car and I dont want to get rid of it for that reason. I could let the wife use it but NOT!!!There's got to be something

Sometimes it is necessary to do a tuneup BEFORE 100,000 miles. So I don't see a problem with that. As long as you used the correct plugs. I buy ONLY motorcraft parts. If somebody can give me a good reason not to, Im open to it.
However, there is some stuff called Lucas Fuel Treatment. It works wonders. I get about 1 to 1.5 mpg more using this stuff with every tank fill. Also, I installed a K&N Filter and I have noticed a little improvement in my gas mileage. Its hard to say though because I haven't been doing any highway miles and the wife loves to leave the truck idling when she's yappin with the neighbors around the corner!

I would try cleaning the MAF first. It's easy to do and can definitely contribute to poor gas mileage if it's dirty. There is a discussion going on HERE regarding that. I was getting poor mileage also a couple months ago but I am not sure whether it was winter gas or a dirty MAF. I cleaned the MAF a few weeks ago and I recently got 13.5mpg all city driving which is very good....I thought.
Since you just had a recent tuneup, the only other things I can think of is to make sure your tires are all at the correct PSI and if you didn't reset your computer after you dropped in the K&N, you may want to do that. Disconnect the negative battery cable for half an hour, that will do it.
I have noticed that if I keep it under 2000rpms or less on the highway, which is around 65, that my gas mileage is much better. I'm runing 3.73's in the rear end though and you may have something different.
