Question gas mileage/4.6L/4x4

i have a 2000 expy/xlt/4.6L/4x4 and was wondering what are the rest of you guys getting on gas mileage? i do 90% of my driving around town and i'll get 10-11 MPG! On the highway i have gotten 16MPG(there was SOME city driving on that tankful). just curious... any feedback would be great!

That's about right. I have a 1997 4.6l 4x4. City driving I get about 13-14, highway is about 18-19. I MAY hit 20 going downhill with a STRONG tailwind.

But you do have to admit though, you don't buy a monster size vehicle like the Expedition with a small V8 like the 4.6l and expect steller gas mileage. I bought mine for safety and reliability in mind for my family first and gas mileage last.

I have a 00' and I average between 11 and 12 mpg, city driving. On a trip to PA I saw 17mpg.

You're in the ballpark. A relatively small engine like the 4.6 has it's work cut out pulling a 5,500 lb. truck around. It makes me wonder if the 5.4 real-world fuel economy is as good or better than the 4.6.

I think it depends a lot on how you drive the car too.. Some people have heavy feet and some just take it easy... But overall low mpg is terrible especially when it costs $70 a tank =(

I get 11-12 in the city, 14-15 on the highway doing 85. I recently installed some new mods. I haven't checked mileage yet, but I will and let you know.
