A/C Recycling noise

I know others have spoken about this but, it's driving me crazy on my 2001 Expy. Everytime I start it the vehicles makes a loud recycling noise. I am pretty sure it's the A/C system and would like to fix it myself. Anyone tackle this problem yet? Thanks

What's a "recyling noise"?

Does it remind you to put your newspaper, plastic, glass, and aluminum out on the curb for the recyling truck or what?

It sounds like a washing machine under the hood.

Have you checked pressures to be sure freon level is correct? Mine made lots of noises when low on freon.

You sure it's not just the fan? Does it go away once you start driving?

if you are referring to a sound of the compressor clicking on and off, then you may want to check your freon levels. The less freon in the system, the more times it has to "cycle" to keep the air cool.

If that is the case, make sure you check for leaks. Or else you will be back to square one in only a matter of time. Until then, watch your use of the A/C. You don't want to burn out anything prematurely.

Good luck.

Thanks for the reply guys. I think it's time to recharge the A/C with some freon and oil. At least that's where I'll start. The sound occurs when you first start it up and then sometimes, rarely, while running. It last for about 5-10 seconds. I'll post results later on. Thanks.

Do you have the load leveling system (LLS)? If so maybe you are hearing the air compressor that fills the air bags and shocks each time you start out...Smithj
