Confused about my rear diff...

Greetings,

I've got a 2000 Expedition 4x4 4.6L .

Door code says I've got rear axle "H9".

Rear diff tags say 3L55 88, which indicates a 3.55 limited-slip 8.8" ring gear (if I'm correct).

But some of the information on F150 Online says that if you've got a 3.55 LS, it's a 9.75" ring gear **for certain**.

What gives? Am I the victim of misinformation, or an incorrect axle tag?

Thanks,

Best regards,

Tim ==

The 8.8" differential is the result of your 4.6L engine. This is also why your Expy has a 4R70W transmission.

If you had a 5.4L engine, you'd also have a 4R100 transmission and a 9.75" differential.
