I have a 97 EB Expedition and was wondering if it was possible to install the keypad unit on the door handle? My wife locked the keys in the rig recently and this would have been a real plus. I installed this in my 2000 F150 and love it! I realize I would have to change out the original power door locks box under the drivers side dash with one that accepts the keypad harness. Is there anything else I need to change out? Appreciate any advice.

 

Obviously the door handle/keypad assembly from a 1999-2002 Expy. Where do you plan to get the harness?

BTW, Ford just came out with battery powered stick-on remote entry keypad that is essentially identical to a keychain remote. Be aware that, just like your keychain remote, function is defeated if the engine is running, so if the little Missus locks herself out of the truck with the engine running...
