Fill me in on the Touring Edition

I just recently bought a Expe 2002 model with the Touring Edition trim package. The truck only had 8000 miles on it when we got it and it was like new, super clean, exept for one minor spot on the bumper. I went and compared it to a new Edie series and the Touring Edition seemed much classier. I've tried to find some information out about the TE, what exactly makes it a TE, and how many where made, ect,ect...but I can't find anything on them anywhere. So when given a link to this forum I thought for sure some of the knowlegeable folk here might know something.

To the best of my knowledge Ford has never offered a "Touring Edition". What you probably have is a dealer installed package done either through their own shop, or farmed out to a local custom shop.

That's what I thought, but on the side where the engine ID badge is there's also a big badge that says "Ford Touring Edition" that looks factory to me. I'll post some pics to give a better idea later.

There are people that have badges made that look very factory. A guy over on TDS makes modified Excursion badges as well as Powerstoke badges.

But I would like to see pictures though. I don't think I've seen any aftermarket/dealer customs before...

The wood trim is the same that is in the Navigators. Also, I don't know if you can tell but the light leather is perferated to keep you cooler.

I have never seen a ford woodgrain kit that included pieces for the dash below the gauges, past the steering wheel. Most of the aftermarket kits include these pieces. So i think it's an aftermarket conversion. Just my two cents

Yep, that's a conversion.

It doesn't suck like it thought it was going too.

So it's a conversion, any way to find out who did it?
