About to buy an Expedition...thoughts?

I am a new member so please forgive the ignorant question...

I am about to buy a new 04 Expedition and wanted to see if anyone had any advise or warnings. Are there any heads-up things I should be aware of before getting one? Are there any sites or FAQs that talk about what to look for when buying one? I was dead set on getting a Tahoe but I think I have changed my mind to the Expy, but have just begun my research. So you may see this same question posted on other sites ...

Thinking about the Eddie Bauer, black with all black Premier Group. Love the all black trim and black running boards.

I guess I should be calling it an Expy if I am going to be an owner now though

Thanks for any help!!!

Not all of 'em are bad

Without a doubt, some of the '03s were "problematic" to put it nicely. However, nearly all of the kinks have been worked out for the '04 models. We've only got 3300 miles on our NBX, but it's running perfectly so far.

If you wait for an 05, you have the option of the new 3 valve 5.4 engine which is 300HP.

Unless your dealer makes you an offer you can't refuse on an '04, I would get an '05, for the engine, and for the hope that Ford has further debugged the rest of the truck.

Definately the new 3 valve is worth going to an 05. I have a 99, and though have had few problems with it (headgaskets repaced under warrantee) I would go with the new one.

'03s problematic

My Cats are making metallic popping noises, sounds likie they are falling apart, side cladding rattles, been through a few rear end fixes (half shafts) for snapping sounds, door lock failed.. comfortable riding though. In AWD mode front diff humms..

BTW, for '05, Ford has dropped the 4.6 and the 2V 5.4, leaving the 300 HP 3V 5.4 as the sole engine for the Expedition.
