Expedition Load level susp ?

I am looking at buying a 2001 eddie bauer 4x4 and noticed it sat a little lower than an 02 beside it and the salesman said that if it has LLS it will sit a little lower than if it doesn't. So he said the other one didn't have it. Is this true?
Thanks.

It lowers an inch or so when you shut it off.

Keep in mind that sooner or later you're going to have a problem with it and it usually means "bucks" to fix.

You might want to search around this site as well as others before you by.

ExpyBob makes a good point, but you can get cheap parts for the air suspension systems here:

http://www.suspension-alternatives.c...on-System.html

Personally, I like the LLS, but my 97 Expy only has it in the rear. It's great for towing heavy boats, no sag. No problems yet (knock on wood). If you tow a lot, you should consider it. If you don't tow, then I wouldn't recommend it as strongly.

how do you know if you have air bags? Or whatever?

IN mine I check for the air suspension and I couldn't find ****. I am confused. I thought that if you have a "this" then "that" will it will be what model it is. But from what I understand Ford is ALL F'D up with its description. I have an Eddie Bauer 4x4. So this means I may or may not have air or spring suspension.

If I have a older yr expy then 4x4 is a different type of suspension which can have air or ????

What's the damn deal with Ford? Which model has what. The manual goes over the all and it its ticking me off a bit. I see a strut for the rear but I also see fat black rubber thingees like on a bog rig in which big rigs are AIR sus[ension. But I don't hear any pump pumping the air ride when I start or put it in set mode before the kicvkin over of the motor....

DOn't they have a set standard for this?

The fat black rubber things are your air springs.

I'm not sure what models get what. My 97 gets the LLS in the rear because it has the tow package. No tow package = regular springs on a 97 Expy XLT.

I think all Eddie Bauers get LLS, but I'm not 100% sure.

My compressor pump operates sporadically, whenever the ride-hight sensor detects sag. There is no regular interval for it (it doesn't automatically activate when the key is turned, for example).

They are called options. They don't standardize everything, that way when you are buying a new vehicle you can get it however you want it. Thanks for the reply's though. I am picking up an 01 EB today. It has high miles (75k) but It's got everything in the world on it and I'm getting it for $16k out the door. So i think I got a decent deal. It's alot beter than the 8 mpg 89 Bronco I just sold.

When I bought my 2004 Expy Eddie Bauer it is still an option.

Not everyone wants or needs it and shouldn't have to pay for it.

Have you had the LLS before? My Navigator has 105,000 miles and I haven't had a single problem with it (knock on wood) and haven't heard many complaints either.

Just got back from picking it up. Love everything about it, except I think there is a problem with the stereo. Nothing sounds blown but there is no bass at all. I think I'm gonna swap head units with the lightning's and see if the problem is there.

Probably a blown sub-woofer speaker.

Very common.

You should think about putting a Lightning engine in there too.

Believe me, I have. The Lightning only get 12-15 mpg and it a little 2wd truck. I couldn't imagine how bad it would be in a big azz expedition.

I'm at around 11mpg with the Procharger. Any fast car drinks fuel... maybe some more than others

Thats intersting you went with a centrifical(sp) blower instead of a positive displacement. I'd think you would want the torque that a positve blower gives you. What does it run with that set up?

I haven't had it on a track. But my torque peaks at 362 lb-ft @ 2700 rpm (that was with clogged cats) and at the rear wheels, so there's plenty of low end. My torque peaks at lower rpm than stock, with a much higher number at the wheels. Not as much as a positive-diplacement, but way more than stock and the power just keeps climbing as revs rise.

I need to get back to a dyno with my new high-flow cats. With bad cats, my power dropped off over 4000 rpm on the dyno & on the road. But now, it pulls really hard all the way 'til it shifts.

It's ridiculously fast for such a large truck.
