'04 Expy towing question-Please Help

I would greatly appreciate some help with a towing question.

I am moving from California to South Carolina, and I will be driving my '04 Expy 4x4 with our dogs. I am considering pulling a trailer with the items we don't trust the movers with.

1. Are there any modification that I should/need tomake?

2. What size trailer, how much weight can I safely pull?

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Before anyone can really take a stab at answering your question we need more info.

What engine, gear ratio and tire size...

For comparison I have a 00' Expy, 4.6l, 3.55, 17" wheels and yes...4x4.
In my owners manual it states what I can tow safely with this equipment. 5000lbs.

Make sure that with your tow load you dont go over the GCVWR or Gross Combined Vehicle Weight Rating of your EXPY and a loaded trailer.

Hope this helps, and I hope that you have an owners manual to reference.
