Fender Flares Installed (pics)

Finally got them on. These are the ones off of ebay that I have been talking about. They are factory Ford parts with Ford part numbers stamped in them. Installation was easy. There are no holes to drill. They use clips to hold them to the fender lip. They are about $350 if you get them from Ford, but I got mine from EGR (They make the flares for Ford) for $135 shipped. They have them in the dark grey color like mine (Platinum) or the light grey color (Titanium). There are more pics in my gallery. Here's a link to the auction if anyone is interested Ebay auction]Ebay Auction" target="_blank">http://<a href="http://URL=http://cg...>]Ebay Auction ]Ebay Auction[/URL] .

Those pics are great! Been thinking about buying a set. I was wondering if they would colormatch but it looks like they do. I just bought a set from ebay thanks to your post. I have an '03 XLT also.

Yep, they are color matched, you just need to know whether you've got the Platinum or Titanium lower trim. The platinum is what I have and it is a very dark grey. The titanium is a lighter color grey. I really don't know how to tell from looking at the original window sticker or by looking at the paint code sticker in the door. I learned the hard way what color I had. I ordered a set of Titanium splash gaurds, thinking that was what I had, and when they came in they were light grey.

Well, GreenCrew, I ordered them already and I suppose I have the Platinum... At least I hope so. Any way to be sure?

I don't know of a way to be sure unless it is some code on the door sticker. What color is your expi? If it's black it's platinum for sure. I'm sure other dark colors will use the platinum trim also. If it's white or silver it might be titanium.

I have the Dark Shadow Gray. However, by looking at an invoice that I have when Ford replaced the cladding because of discoloration, I found that the part numbers for the pieces all end in AAA and not AAB. So I must have the titanium colored cladding since the part number for the titanium flares is 3L1Z-16268-AAA and the platinum is 3L1Z-16268-AAB. I fired off an email to the seller and he was able to change the order to titanium for me

Thanks for your help and info

It's good that you caught it this early. They are pretty good to deal with. When I got my flares, 3 were platinum and 1 was titanium. I called and they sent me another platinum and didn't even ask me to send the other one back. Now I've got an extra along with an extra install kit. (don't know what good one titanium flare will do me though). These really make a big difference in the looks of the XLT. The pictures don't do it justice. Mine doesn't look like some rental car anymore.

I put them on today and I agree that they are worth every penny.
A great deal on eBay. Thanks GreenCrew!

Fender Flare Color

Well.....I origninally ordered the Platinum -AAB color. Then I saw someone checked their Ford Invoice on getting their clading replaced due to fading, and it was the -AAA (Titanium) color code. I had my clading replaced..and also saw that the Invoice called out the -AAA color. I was able to catch my order at EGR...and they changed it for me before it got shipped to -AAA (Titanium) Well....got the flares today and guess what....they are too light. I must have the -AAB Platinum. WTF??? Anyway, since there is no return policy, anyone looking for a new set/still in box of TITANIUM -AAA Color Code flares...drop me a line at jkorzik@cisco.com. 100.00 Shipped!

I would check with EGR. Even though there is a no return policy, they will probably swap you for the correct color.
