Question '03 Expy owners that have done there own brake job; Question for you

NOTE: VEHICLES BUILT BEFORE JULY 15, 2003 MAY REQUIRE REPLACEMENT OF THE HOLD-DOWN CLIP, AND RETAINING PINS, THE FIRST TIME THE BRAKE LININGS ARE REPLACED. SERVICE KIT 4L1Z-2001-BA KIT CONTAINS DETAILS ON HOW TO DETERMINE IF THESE PARTS MUST BE CHANGED. YOU MAY WISH TO ORDER THESE PARTS ALONG WITH THE BRAKE LINING KITS, TO AVOID REPAIR DELAYS.

PART NUMBER PART NAME
4L1Z-2001-BA Brake Lining Kit
2L1Z-2B164-AB Clip - Hold Down
2L1Z-2C150-AC Kit - Retaining Pin
The factory brake pads and rotors are finally pretty worn after 33k of mostly stop and go driving and towing 5000# when it was on the interstate. I've already bought some Wagner rotors and Wagner Thermo Quiet pads for the front. I expect it to be a straight forward swap except for if I have to replace the hold down and retaining pin as mentioned in the TSB when using after market pads. What are the details on how to determine of the parts must be changed? My Expy was built in 11/02 so it falls in that time frame.

Thanks
Chuck
