06 navigation problem

I have a new 06 expedition with nav.
Recently when I hit the "map" button... The display (vehicle) arrow moves over the road way too fast and ends up showing me up to 1/2 to 3/4 of a mile ahead of where I'm at.
I try to make the vehicle position adjustment through the nav menu but it will eventually go right back to being out of whack.....
Is there any solution for this before I take it to the dealer?

I haven't ever heard of this, but it could be several things. The calibration for the speed sensor could be off a little, but if it stays in the same range ahead of you then I'd say that wasn't it. Sounds like a dealer problem to me

Could be the speed sensor ----
Say I'm driving on a straight road.
After driving a mile or 2 -- Instead of the arrow showing me where I currently should be --- It is like 1.5 miles ahead on the map...showing roads I haven't passed yet......
I stop the car and readjust the location manually and it is fine for another mile or 2... right on --- Then, it will start to cover more ground then I'm currently covering........ Like the computer thinks I'm going faster than I'm traveling......

I own a 2005 Expy Limited and it has the Navigation system in it, I am guessing the same as yours. I was on the phone with the salesman the next day. My locater arrow was doing some funky things also. I would make a turn and the arrow would indicate I was at the next street. Then there were times that I am actually behind the indicator when driving. One time, it actually showed that I was driving over a pond. But since then, it has become better but not 100% accurate at all times.

When it starts acting up I push in the Zoom button. I don’t change the zoom, but pushing it in will have the Zoom bar pop up. When the Zoom bar disappears, I’d say 4 to 5 seconds later, the system will recalibrate itself back to where its suppose to be.

Now, at the same time, when there is heavy clouds or in the city (downtown Chicago for me) the Navigation indicator will get within 100 yards from actual vehicle position. There also is an anomaly in a certain suburb/town/village that I drive through and happens every time, and at the same place. The navigation is always off by 200-300 yards within a six mile drive. Then it seems that my vehicle catches up to the indicator.

But you are saying 1 ˝ miles…wow……but I think the first night I had the car and tested the Navigation, I was off my that much at times also…The dealership told me to take it on a popular interstate for 20 minutes and exit at a state route…I thought they were talking out of their ***, but it did work.

Sorry for the novel…..but you now know that you are not the only one something like this has happened to
