do most Expeditions come with the limited slip rear?

Shopping for Expeditions, and am curious if most come with the limited slip rear. We tow my race car some, and are mainly looking at tow package vehicles. Some we looked at do not have the tow package... I have no problem adding a trans cooler, heavy duty shocks, or some of the other items, but am curious as to whether most have the limited slip rear?

There was no particular pattern by vehicle type.

You'll have to look at the AXLE code on the door sticker and select one with both LS and your desired (or acceptable) axle ratio. For towing, I'd highly recommend the 3.73 although the 3.55 will serve if needed.

Our 2004 Expedition has AdvanceTrac, which means it will not have a limited slip rear. Got 3.73's though.

limited slip

A friend that worked for Ford Service said he thought most came with it, but I have found many that did not, including 4Wd's, which I would have thought would have it. Do most towing package equiped Exp's have it?

My Nav carries the H6 designation, 3.73 limited slip. I tested it the other day and it cuts a fine 2 liner

limited slip

I've been told that the 5.4's have limited slip. I have a 98 xlt and for the most part, its a base expedition. No rear air, no rear seat and it did not have a class 3 hitch or 7 pin connector when I bought it. It does however have an auxillary transmission cooler but I do not know if that was standard. I relative has a 2000 4.6 without a limited slip and it also has a physically smaller rear axle so I assume that what I've been told is true.

My 1997 5.4L Expy XLT w/tow package didn't come with it. I had it put in later.

I bought a 99 with towing package and a limited slip 3.73 axle... 5.4 Eddie Bauer, just what I was looking for! Now, on to the upgrades....

If it has the AdvanceTrac system, it will not have the limited slip. That's a pretty easy way to tell. When I was shopping around for mine, most of them had this, including the one I chose.

Forget posi in an '07, they're all standard with advanced trac. Sucks I prefer posi. I do like the fact that you can turn A/T off.

Wink

My '04 EB has Advance Trac and 3.73LS. But around here, the dealers think that if you have 4X4, you don't need the limited slip. It took me awhile to find one with both HD trailer tow and LS.
