2001 Expedition

They are not that hard if you have the right tools and you have some knowledge of the front suspension setup. The first one took me about 3 hours cuz it was my first time replacing a ball joint, the second took me about 1.5 hours. Just figuring out where you should tie stuff up is time consuming(caliper, shock, etc) Having a strong friend is helpful! When you are done you'll need to get an alignment really soon, or you will wear your tires out prematurely. The lower ball joint is seperate(requires a ball joint press or something similar) and the uppers come with the control arm. More than likely it is just the lowers that need replacing.

Just got done replacing all (4) ball joints, inner/outer tie rods, camber/caster kits, idler arm and repacked front bearings on my 01 expy. Took about (7) hours (not in a hurry). Ball joints wer the most time consuming, especially the lowers. My r/h lower took about an hour itself. All started with my wife taking it in for an alignment and they said they couldn't do it because of the idler arm. They quoted her $300.00 for r&r of idler arm and alignment. I told her NOT. Bought all of the above parts (TRW) for about $430.00. Would have cost about $1800.00 for the dealer to do work.
