HELP :-( 2000 Expedition Air Suspension Problem

Hi, I have a problem with my 2000 expedition 4x4, my rear end is way too low, compressor is working but runs for a long time and still rear stays down, so I decided to turn off Air suspension because I might toast the compressor.

Compressor was really hot when it was still trying to lift it.

Need help asap

There's an air line union over between the master cylinder and air filter box that breaks often times, dumping the *** end in the dirt. Check around the master cylinder, you'll see it if it's broken.

Hi Quintin thanks for the quick response, do you have a picture of that union?

Unfortunately, no. If it's broken, you'll see it. It's black, about an inch long, joins the air line from the compressor to the line that feeds the rear suspension together. It has two quick disconnects on either side of it, they look like little black or red rings, press them inwards towards the union and pull the air line out.

Yup, that's it. That one looks like its been replaced before though, the unions that taper in the middle are the latest level ones I think.

Anyways, you're gonna want to replace that rascal. P/N 2L1Z-5B322-AA, about $22 at your friendly neighborhood Ford or Lincoln-Mercury dealer.

Here is a link to a place that has good advice...parts...ect. Also, if you call the guy he actually gives advice over the phone. Search around the site and you'll find a ton of info.

I agree with the guys above. You most likely have a leaking bag or line which is causing the pump to run all the time. If I were you I would replace the bags on the rear with a kit from these guys.

Ok replaced the union already, now the rear is still not raising up .

I also checked the thick black hose connected on the compressor drier, is that one really not tight? Because i can remove it easily. What is that supposed to give out? Air?

Does the compressor come on still? It's possible that in the presence of an air leak, you may have overworked and damaged the compressor and/or it's relay.

I have fixed the very small air leak on the union.

Now, I removed the compressor and found that my compressor drier has popped, exposing the o-ring,

Yes the compressor still runs, i turn it off the first time i knew there was a leak.
