Navigator stalling out?

Navigator stalling out?
We've got a '99 Lincoln Navigator w/ 105K on it and it started stalling out on us last night. I started it up and it would just die, the service/check engine soon light came on. I finally got it going but had to keep the RPMs up a little at stoplights so it wouldn't stall out. I did notice when I'd slow down, the lights on the dash/guage cluster would dim faintly - battery or alternator? I drove it 40 miles after it happened (coming home from DC, not a place you want to leave a Nav overnight ) but it still stalled pulling into the garage when we got home. Any ideas what to check? Thanks!

You can eliminate the IAC as the problem by banging on it.
Take a long screwdriver or even your lug wrench handle and give the IAC a few good licks.
If it is fouled this will unstick it.
If you can then start up and idle then you have a filthy IAC.
If you whack on the IAC and it still won't idle, read a post below this one.
by the way, I'm due for a cleaning or replacement, this happened to me last week.
