Thinking about an Expy

Thinking about an Expy
I'm looking at getting an Expy for the wife to drive.
She currently has a minivan that gets 17-18mpg on a normal day. I have a '99 F-150 Super Cab Lariat with the 220hp variety 4.6 and 3.55ls gears. The truck only gets driven occasionally or when I need to pull our 4200lb boat. It does this job very well. The wife wants to keep a 7+ passenger vehicle. I have another more fuel efficient vehicle to drive daily.
We are looking hard at trading the van and the truck for an expy to cover the jobs of both and cut the insurance and maintenance costs in half.
We have found a 2001 Expy Sport with the 232/240hp 4.6 and 3.31ls gears. It is equipped the way I would want it except for the 3.31's.
What do people with similar Expy's get for mpg and how much of a hit am I going to take in towing performance? With my 150 towing, I can leave the OD on cruising at 65-68mph on fairly flat highway with no problems, kicking OD off if I need to climb over a very mild hill.
